We have nothing from the army which we are Exposed to regard as entirely reliable. There were a number of reports in circulation yesterday, but how well founded they may be we are unable to decide. One report says that Gen. Jackson had a fight with the enemy at Snicker's Gap on Monday, in which he defeated them, and occupied that point. If this be true, an important position has been gained and which may being about a general engagement much sooner than has been anticipated. With the exception of one, this is the lowest gap in the Mas Ridge Mountains on the Virginia side of the Potomac and is about 29 miles above Harper's Ferry. The turnpike read from Winchester to Leesburg, and on to Alexandros, passes through this gap. It was stated some days ago in the northern papers that it had been occupied by the enemy. If it be so that it is now in possession of our forces, we may reasonably expect that the enemy will retire in the direction of the Potomac, an his rear would be seriously threatened.

From the Rappahannock we have nothing new.
