A friend has furnished us with the following items. The first is from the New Orleans Era, of the 24th April

"An attempted reconnaissance of Subine Pass was made on the 18th of April, by two Federal gunboats, the New London and Cayaga. Capt. McDermit, of the Cayaga, was killed and his boat taken. The other best was riddled by balls, and miraculously escaped" The Delta concludes an notice of the funeral as follows.

"The Union fleet on the Tanks coast. since the 18th of January, has reverely in ships and officers, and to any nation loss persevering them ours the reverse and direction in that quarter would indicate discouragement."

At Brownsville, Texas, molasses is selling at fifty cents per gallon. Shoot of good make, eighteen dollars per dozen. Hats at the same price. Dem action, twenty cents per yard. --Two hundred barrels of flour said at auction at ten dollars and fifty cents per barrel.
