The election.

The returns of the election held on the 28th ult. are yet very incomplete, but sufficient is known to warrant us in saying that General Smith, of Fauquier, has been chosen Governor, and Samuel Price, of Greenbrier, Lieutenant Governor.

The following is a recapitulation of the vote as far as received, made up from the columns of the Whig:

Congressional delegation.

The returns from the several Congressional Districts are yet very confused, but seem to indicate the election of the following members: 1st District, R. L Montague; 2d District, R H Whitfield; 3d District, W C Wickham; 4th District Charles F Collier 5th District Thos S Bocock; 6th District, John Goode, Jr.; 7th District, Wm C Rives; 8th District, Daniel C Dejarnette; 9th District, David Funston; 10th District, F W M Holliday; 11th District, John B Baldwin; 12th District, Walter Staples; 13th District, Fayette McMullin; 14th District, --Miller; 15th District, Robert Johnson; 16th District, Charles W Russell.

Messrs. Collier, Bocock, Goode, Dejarnette, Baldwin, Johnson, Russell, Miller, and Staples, are members of the present Congress. Of the present delegation the following members were candidates for re-election, and defeated: 1st District, M R H Garnett, beaten by Montague; 3d District, James Lynne, beaten by Wickham; 10th District, A R Boteler, beaten by Holliday; 13th District, Walter Preston, beaten by McMullin. In the 2d and 7th Districts Messrs. Chambliss and Holcombe, present members, were not candidates for re-election. In the 9th District Funston succeeds Smith, present member, who is elected Governor.

James City County.--A poll was held on election day several miles below the Confederate lines in James City county, with the following result: Governor; Flournoy 12, Smith 6, Wise 1. Lt Governor: Imboden 16, Price 2. Attorney General: Tucker 16. Congress: Wickham 7, Lyons 10. House of Delegates: Henley 23, Meanley 4.

Botetourt.--Governor: Flournoy 182, Smith 169, Munford 71. Lt-Governor: Price 353, Imboden 52. Congress: Edmondson 207, Staples 202.

Warren.--Governor: Smith 87, Munford 21, Flournoy 12. Lieut-Governor: Imboden 61, Price 46. Congress: Funston 101, Menifee 14. Senate: Carson 114. House of Delegates: Thomas 109.

Rappahannock.--Smith's majority 150.

The following is the official vote of Rockingham county: Governor: Smith, 481; Munford, 359; Flournoy, 246. Lieutenant-Governor: Price, 516; Imboden, 447. Congress: Baldwin, 676; Letcher, 526. State Senate: Coffman, 430; Pennybacker, 122; Gray, 443; Hiner, 161. Messrs Walker, Harris, and Kenney elected to House Delegates.

Hardy--Polls were held at three precincts in this county, with the following result:--Governor: Flournoy, 93; Smith, 26; Munford, 13. Lieutenant-Governor: Price, 64; Imboden, 66. Congress: Boteler, 117; Holiday, 13.

Pendleton.--Governor: Smith, 113; Flournoy, 28, Munford, 31. Lieutenant-Governor: Price, 61; Imboden, 103. Congress: Letcher, 123; Baldwin, 66. State Senate: Pennybacker, 108; Coffman, 14; Gray, 12; Hiner, 58.

Shenandoah.--Governor: Smith, 338; Munford, 64; Flournoy, 28 Lieutenant-Governor: Price, 152; Imboden 143; Sheffey, 63. Congress: Holiday, 372; Boteler, 59. Messrs Walton and Rittman elected to House of Delegates. There are four precinct in this county from which returns are not received.
