Virginia Annual (M. E.) Conference.

[reported for the Dispatch] Third Day-- Friday, Nov. 20th.-- Bishop Pierce in the chair. Conference was opened at 9 o'clock with prayer by Rev. Mr. Crumley, of the Georgia Conference.

A memorial was presented by the Bishop, addressed to the Bishop and members of the Virginia Annual Conference of the M. E. Church and the President and members of the Virginia Annual Conference of the M. P. Church.

The Quarterly Conference of the Lancaster Circuit of the M. E. Church and the Quarterly Conference of the M. P. Church during the present and past year have been in the habit of interchanging fraternal messengers to promote Christian intercourse between the members of two Churches, having in view the permanent union of the two Churches upon principles satisfactory to each.

The memorial brings the subject before the Conference for such action as they may deem proper.

A resolution, having in view the above, object, was also presented from the Quarterly Conference of the Westmoreland Circuit, uniting with the Lancaster Circuit.

On motion of J. D. Coulling, the Bishop appointed the following committee, to whom was referred the above subject: Messrs. W. A. Smith, D. S. Doggett and J. A. Duncan.

Rev. J. E. Edwards submitted a report from the Bible Committee, which was adopted.

On motion of Rev. J. E. Edwards, the resolution passed at last Conference, in relation to a Conference Fast and administration of the Lord's Supper, was amended so as to read--

Resolved, That the attention of the Conference be seriously called to the observance of the fasting and prayer prescribed by the Discipline as preliminary to the reception of preachers, and that the Committee on Religious Worship be required to make arrangements for the administration of the sacrament of the Lord's Supper at some suitable time during each session of the Conference, to be followed, as the occasion may allow, by the narration of religious experience and the usual exercises of a love feast.

Dr. Smith presented a report from the Committee of the Chaplains of the Army, (read by J. C. Granberty,) of a most interesting and important character. The report recommends the appointment of twenty additional chaplains for the army, and providing ample support for them and their families.

Rev. D. S. Doggett presented a resolution in regard to the appointment of a missionary to the batteries and hospitals around this city. Petersburg and Lynchburg were afterwards included, and the subject then referred to the Committee on Chaplains of the Army.

The hour having arrived, the Conference was resolved into a prayer meeting, conducted by the Bishop.

After which the Conference adjourned.
