The Yankees on the Chowan.

--On Thursday last, two Yankee. gunboats ascended the Chowan river N. as far as Harrellsville, in Hertford county. About 300 men landed and marched up into the village, burned several houses and destroyed bout 10,000 pounds of Government bacon; which had most imprudently been allowed to remain there. They also robbed many private houses, carried off ten or twelve mules and killed some that they could not get away. As they were returning to the gunboats, some of our cavalry came upon them, killed several of them and wounded others. Only one of our men was wounded (slightly.) Harrellsville is about two miles from Chowan river, and about twenty miles below Murfreesboro'.
