How our prisoners are treated at Point Lookout.

We have before us a letter from Jefferson county which presents in a strong light the cruelty with which our gallant soldiers are treated at Point Lookout, Md. The letter states that about Christmas a number of families of that county, who have friends and relatives in the hands of the enemy, fixed up boxes of clothing and provisions with which to cheer the prison life of their loved ones. There boxes were permitted to be sent, but never to reach or benefit those for whom they were designed. After arriving at Point Lookout they were robbed of their and the empty boxes handed among our poor boys, to aggravate their loss and make it seem greater to their cold and hungry stomachs. The letter proceeds to say:

"We who are within the enemy's lines, and come daily contact with them, know and feel the of the proverb, that the devil must be with fire When the entery was raised in Yankee papers about their starving prisoners in Richmond, even there who believed it said it was that they should at least of tests of the cup they and best trying so long to make us drink Out refuses to receive the bounty offered by the Yankee Government, but it does not hesitate to take all the people who sustain that Government may office to send. The Bible says, man take your give him your coat but it you that after he has your and is trying to get your that you should be the resident of his bounty and "
