The Legislature.

In the Senate yesterday, that body refused to recede from their amendment to the bill for the relief of soldiers'-families within the lines or under the control of the public enemy, and asked for a conference committee upon the subject.

The Committee on Privileges and Elections, reported on the case of the contested election in the 23d district, declaring E T Taylor duly elected, which was laid on the table and ordered to be printed.

The following bills were reported:

To amend the 30th section of chapter 182 of the Code, in regard to docketing causes in the Court of Appeals at Lewisburg, during the existing war.

To amend an act to extend the time within which to institute proceedings for misdemeanors in counties, cities, and towns in possession or threatened by the enemy, passed March 23d, 1863.

Several bills were passed as follows:

A bill to suppress trade combination.

A bill to incorporate the Richmond City Insurance Company.

A bill to amend the 11th and 12th sections of chapter 170 of the Code of Virginia, so as to dispense with the order of publication during the existing war.

To more effectually prevent unlawful trading on canal boats and other crafts plying the rivers and canals of this Commonwealth. Adjourned.

In the House, the bill to provide for the completion of the Covington and Ohio Railroad, was made the order of the day for Monday, the 15th inst.

The bill for the incorporation of the City Insurance Company of Richmond, was amended, so as to provide that the Company shall not commence operation until at least $50,000 of the capital stock shall have been paid in.

The bill to increase the compensation of the clerks of courts, and the substitute therefore was taken up, and the substitute therefore passed.

The discussion of the Military Bill consumed the remainder of the session.
