The Legislature.

In the Senate yesterday a bill was reported concerning jailors' fees; also, a bill amending the 38th chapter of the Code (edition of 1860) in relation to the assessment of taxes on licenses.

A resolution of inquiry was adopted in relation to the occupation by the Confederate Government of the Virginia armory.

On motion, the Senate resolved itself into secret session. On reopening the doors the Senate adjourned.

In the House the bill to increase the compensation of the porters and pages was received from the Senate with an amendment, which was agreed to.

The following bills were reported:

A bill to amend and re-enact the 15th section of the act entitled "Au act to protect and indemnify citizens of Virginia," passed October 3d, 1863."

A bill to amend and re-enact an act entitled "Au act to extend the time for the exercise of certain civil rights and remedies," passed March 14th, 1862

A bill to amend the charter of the Farmers and Mechanics' Insurance Company of Richmond.

The bill for the relief of the creditors of R. P. Baker, late Sheriff of Braxton county, was passed.

The report of the joint committee of conference on the subject of disagreement on the bill appropriating one million of dollars for the relief of the families of soldiers with in the enemy's lines, recommending that the House recede from its amendment, was taken up as the order of the day, at 11½ o'clock A. M. and discussed at length till the hour of adjournment.
