Major's Court.

Jordan Miller, charged with buying and selling a horse which he knew to have been stolen from Edwin J Duval, was remanded for examination before the Hustings Court.

Wm Koethe, a German, living in the Northwestern end of the city, was required to give security for his appearance before the Grand Jury of the Hustings Court, to answer the charge of keeping his store open on Sunday, and selling liquor to negroes to be drunk in his house.

M C Dixon, charged with outrageously abusing and assaulting W C Hebener, a merchant of this city, was required to give $500 security for his good behavior and to keep the peace for twelve months.

Mary E and Sarah Jane Vanderlip, charged with keeping a house of evil fame, were remanded to jail in default of security to keep the peace. John C Dawson, caught in the house with these women, was also sent to prison in default of security. Dawson has been a convict in the penitentiary.

The charge against Ben, of breaking into the house of L V Meyer, and stealing a large amount of jewelry and money, was further postponed on account of the absence of witnesses.

Emanuel, slave of Peter Mayo, charged with trespassing upon Howard's Grove Hospital with intent to commit a larceny, was ordered to be given thirty lashes.

Maria, slave of Mary Fox, was also whipped for stealing one calico dress from Mrs Caroline Curtis.

Several parties were fined for permitting water to be wasted from their hydrants.
