Heavy robbery.

--On Saturday night, the room No. 140, Exchange Hotel, occupied by Mr. J. F. Semon, an optician, from New York, was entered by thieves and extensively plundered. Mr. Semon was asleep, when the thieves cautiously opened a window on the porch in front of his room, and stole two hundred and ten dollars in gold and one hundred dollars in greenbacks from his pantaloons pockets, and also took a trunk containing spectacles and other articles of value sufficient to make the plunder amount to twelve hundred dollars. They then made their escape; and up to this time have not been arrested. Mr. Semon is under the impression that the thieves used chloroform to stupefy him before committing the robbery.
