Epicaste

Ἐπικάστη), a daughter of Menoeceus, and wife of Laius, by whom she became the mother of Oedipus, whom she afterwards unwittingly married. She is more commonly called Jocaste. (Hom. Od. 11.271; Apollod. 3.5.7, &c.; see OEDIPUS.) Respecting Epicaste, the daughter of Calydon, see AGENOR, No. 4; a third Epicaste is mentioned by Apollodorus. (2.7.8.)
