M., to organize themselves into an association to raise funds for building a gunboat, to protect this ancient and beautiful Capital of the Old Dominion against our common enemy. Anxious to contribute what I can toward an undertaking so patriotic, if agreeable, I will devote the proceeds of the first night's exhibition of my "War Illustrations" to the contemplated gunboat fund. The first entertainment takes place at Metropolitan Hall, Wednesday evening, the 26th instant. Independent of the donation thus tendered, I desire to present you one thousand tickets, amounting to five hundred dollars, to be disposed of for the benefit of the fund.
