Extra session U. S. Senate. Washington, March 21.
--Senator Douglas' resolutions were up.
Senator Bayard, of Delaware, continued his remarks.
He discussed the cause which had led to the withdrawal of seven States, among which was the formation and triumph of a sectional party, recognizing the equality of all, without regard to race, and hostile to the existence of slavery.
Their ultimate purpose was to extinguish it by indirect action on the part of the Federal Government.
After an Executive session, adjourned.

--John T. Edgar, of Tennessee, has been nominated Consul to St. Thomas.
Howe, Collector at Key West, has been confirmed.
No reinforcements sent South, nor orders issued to reinforce Fort Pickens, is now considered the most reliable report from administrative circles.
Seizure of a vessel laden with supplies. Augusta, Ga.,, March 21.
--The sloop Isabella, Capt. Jones, laden with provisions for the United States fleet at Pensacola, was seized last night.
[The seizure probably took place at Savannah, though the locality is not stated.]
Ohio U. S. Senator, &c. Cleveland, O., March 21.
--The Republican causes of the Legislature nominated John Sherman for U. S. Senate, on the 79th ballot.
A resolution requesting Congress to call a National Convention, passed both Houses of the Legislature.
