The agitation for a new meeting-house which began in 1716, and completely buried the proposed new schoolhouse in 1720, reached a climax in 1726, when the second meeting-house was built on the low land just east of Marble creek which has since been known as Meetinghouse brook. Samuel Brooks, Jr. Only the surnames of Masters Cutter and Gibbs appear in the Treasurer's record, but as it was a common practice for young graduates ofates, it seems but natural to look to Harvard for the record of these men. We find that an Ammi R. Cutter was graduated in the class of 1725, and a Henry Gibbs in 1726; possibly, then, these were our teachers.
