Upon re-assembling, the Speaker laid before the House a communication from the Governor of Georgia, enclosing the act passed by the Legislature of that State relative to punishing by fine or imprisonment, persons who shall charge extortionate prices for articles of prime necessity. On motion of Mr. Anderson, of Botetourt, the communication was referred to the special committee on extortions. The bill constituting New River a lawful fence was passed. The bill incorporating the Windsor Tanning and Boot and Shoe Manufacturing Company, at Windsor, in the county of Isle of Wight, was passed.
