Prison Items. --The following deserters were put in Castle Thunder on Saturday and Sunday, viz: R. Whalen, alias J. Kostigan, co G, 16th Miss; G W Hyatt, co A, 28th N. C; Jen Arrington co K, 42d Ve; R E Arrington, co E, 58th V; Gass Hurson co G, 2d Va cavalry; Joseph Vendergrift, co C 10th La; and about forty others. Michael Driscoll, co D 2d La, was arrested as a supposed deserter, and for attempting to get a passport on false papers to go to Sidney to become a substitute. Sergeant ManArrington, co E, 58th V; Gass Hurson co G, 2d Va cavalry; Joseph Vendergrift, co C 10th La; and about forty others. Michael Driscoll, co D 2d La, was arrested as a supposed deserter, and for attempting to get a passport on false papers to go to Sidney to become a substitute. Sergeant Mansfield, of co C, 14th La, escaped from Castle Thunder yesterday morning. He went to the guard and pretended that no was a friend of the Adjutant of the prison, and threatened to have him (the guard) put in the lock-up if he did not allow him to pass. The guard (James Childress) who permitted the prisoner to pass was subsequently arrested and confined for suffering himself to be imposed upon thus. North Carolina Elections. Weldon, N. C., Oct. 31. --The vote in the 24th North Carolina regiment was almost unanimous for Fuller, Arrington, and Leach. The New York Herald states that the small-pox has broken out among the Confederate prisoners in Fort Delaware. There were 150 cases last Wednesday. Brig.-Gen. Corcoran, U. S. A., whose wife died three months ago, was married on the 20th inst., and his bride is with him in the Army of the Potomac. The Presbyterian Syned, (United,) of Va., is in session at Lynchburg. Rev. T. D. Bell, of Winchester, Moderator. The cargoes of nine blockade-running steamers are to be sold at Wilmington, N. C., in the next three weeks. At an election for Congressman, held in the 24th N. C. reg't, for the 5th Congressional District, the vote stood — Arrington 34, Turner 10, J. J. Davis I. Col. John T. Cox, of Gen. Wharton's cavalry, has been made Brigadier General of cavalry.

North Carolina election. Raleigh, Nov. 5. --Turner's majority over Arrington in Wake and Orange counties 1,445. Turner's election thought certain.--In the 3d district Leach leads McRae in Johnson county about 300, and, including the army vote, is but little behind him in Wayne. Result doubtful. Fuller is thought to be elected over Strange and Meares in the 4th district. Not enough returns received from other districts to indicate the result.--It is thought here that Christian is elected over Ashe in the 7th district. [Second Dispatch.] Raleigh, Nov. 5. --Ramsay leads Lander about 700 in the 8th district, with Union, Cleaved, and Catawba counties to hear from. Ramsay is probably elected. North Carolina election. Raleigh, Nov. 6. --The election returns come in slowly. Turner, Conservative, is certainly elected over Arrington in the 5th district. In the 3d district Leach leads McRae about 600, with Duplin and Sampson counties to hear from. Leach is thought to be elected Sampson county reported as having given him a majority. In the 2d district Yellowby carried Lenoir, Green, Pitt, and Wilson counties; Edgecourt and Halifax to hear from. The contest is a close one. In the 7th district Chatham and Moore counties have gone for Christian by three to one. Christian thought to be elected over Ashe, late member. Gilmer is elected in the 6th district. Nothing from other districts.
