t Newbern, N. C., May 22, 1864. Nathaniel Saltonstall Barstow, son of Gideon and Nancy (Forresteyears, but full of promise for the future. Barstow's temperament was not easily fired by the prothe battle of the Wilderness. Serving with Barstow at the fort were many of those who were after Regiment. Affairs at home were changed, and Barstow was one of the first applicants for a commiss regiment.
