passed. On motion of Mr. Ward, a bill relating to bank directors was taken up. Mr. W. explained that its object was to provide a business quorum of bank directors in cases where any number of such directors have gone into the public service. For that purpose it enacts that, during the continuance of the war, three members suffice to constitute a quorum for the transaction of business. The bill was passed. Mr. Robertson moved to take up the bill allowing certain corporations to issue notes of and under, $1. Recommitted. Mr. Cazenove reported a bill from a special committee, legalizing the manufacture of alcohol. Pending a motion to put this bill on its second reading, on motion of Mr. Grattan, the House adjourned to to-morrow, at 11 o'clock. [During the night session of Tuesday, the 25th, the House passed, with amendments, Senate bill to prevent the unnecessary distillation of grain by distillers and other manufacturers of spirituous and malt liquors.]
