I used it very extensively, with marked success. It is no new remedy — many apothecaries put it up and sell it under the name of "Diarrhœa Drops," "Bowel Complaint Mixture," &c. Its cost is insignificant, and can easily be prepared by any physician or apothecary. I write it in a plain manner, so that it can be understood by all. R. Nitrous Acid1 dram. Laudanum40 drops. Campor Mixture8 ounces M. No previous preparation is required; all that is neceseary is to keep the hands and feet warm, and prevent the body from exposure to cold, or a current of air, using at the same time warm barley water or thin gruel, and a diet of sago, tapioca, &c. Dr. Parrish, whose experience has been very extensive with this preparation, cautions particularly that Nitrous acid should be used and not Nitric.
