City Council. --A special called meeting of this body was held at the City Hall, at 4 o'clock, on Monday evening. Present; David J. Sounders, and a quorum. The application of Geo. A. Freeman, High Countable allowance on account of office rent, referred March 5th to the Committee on Public Grounds and Buildings, was reported on adversely — the committee asking to be discharged from its farther consideration. The report was received. The following resolution, adopted by the Committee on Light, March 6th, was reported to the Council, and adopted: Whereas, the existing war with the United States calls for all the armed men which it is possible for the city to furnish; and whereas the City Council has voted, and is likely to continue to vote, large sums of money for the equipment of volunteers and the support of their families during their absence; Therefore.
