The Clarkesville (Tenn.) Herald has suspended publication till after the war. The editor has laid aside the pen for the sword, which he intends to wield till victory perches upon the banner of the Southern Confederacy. It is said that August Belmont, the great millionaire and banker, has ordered the sale of his real estate in New York, and does not intend to return to this country. James I. Gregg, a member of the Savannah (Ga.) Volunteer Guards, was drowned at Green Island, near Savannah, on the 21st inst. An eagle measuring 7 feet 4 inches from tip to tip, was shot on the farm of Capt. Eastin, of Fayette county, Ky., by his son, on Saturday week. The bird was first discovered devouring a sheep it had killed.
