Whipped. --The Mayor's police had another busy time yesterday settling with a number of negroes who were arrested on Monday night without passes. Each of the following received a number of stripes, varying from ten to thirty-nine: Pompey, Burwell and Henry, slaves of John Matter; Archer Hampton, a free negro; Mack Turpin, do.; Lewis, slave of G. F. Hicks; Cornelius, employed at the Richmond and Petersburg railroad; John, in the employ of the Richmond and Danville railroad, for passing a spurious $100 note.
