6, 1867, to Temperance Looper, and they have one daughter, now Mrs. Nora Gertrude Harris. Robert E. Hill, born in Abbeville county, S. C., January 14, 1839, is a son of Judge William Hill, who serv 1824 he married Anna Hamilton Donald, daughter of Maj. John Donald, of Abbeville county. Judge Robert E. Hill was reared on a farm and finished his education at Erskine college. In 1859 he made a trhe conscript department, in which he served to the close of the war. Since the return of peace Judge Hill has resided in Abbeville where his duties have been chiefly of an official character. He has 1898, being the present incumbent. He is a member of Secession camp, U. C. V., of Abbeville. Judge Hill has been married three times, his first wife being Sarah Richey, whom he married in 1860.
