Two soldiers were being drilled in the manual of arms, one having a loaded gun, and not knowing it to be loaded, at the word fire the load was discharged. The Rev. Geo. W. Holland, of Salem, Va., happened to be passing in front, when the ball took effect upon a Bible which he had in his side pocket, immediately over his heart, and glanced, only breaking his left arm, which was afterward amputated. I have seen theloaded gun, and not knowing it to be loaded, at the word fire the load was discharged. The Rev. Geo. W.
