Barnes, charged with assaulting Jos. Adams, slave, gave $300 bail for his appearance at the next term of the Court. The jury fined defendant $100, and he moved to set aside the verdict as contrary to the law and the evidence; which motion the Court granted on condition that if set aside, Mr. Wayne would pay a fine of $50 and costs, and give $1,000 bail to keep the peace towards Finn for one year, which he did.
