A New magazine. --We have received from Starke & Cardoza, the Virginia agents, the first number of " Hutton & Freligh's Southern Monthly," published at Memphis, Tennessee. This new candidate for public favor is in all respects worthy the support of the Southern public. It makes a capital beginning, and is full of talent, interest, variety, and spirit. The first number is adorned with a likeness of the glorious Beauregard, and a map of the immortal battle-field of Manasas. We invoke for this admirable magazine the universal support of the Southern community. Now is the time for the South to break its intellectual as well as its political fetters. If the North continues to furnish our literature, it will matter little who makes our laws.
