King William Indians.
A communication from the Executive, in response to a resolution of the Senate calling for information "in relation to the exemption of individuals and classes" in the county of King William from military requisition for laborers to be been defeated, and the proceedings of a Court having full authority have been deliberately revised and nullified by the State Executive.
The ground for this interference by the Governor is, that the persons so enrolled and drafted were Indians--not free negroes — and therefore not liable to requisition under the ordinance cited.
The question being thus stated, the committee examined the question of status, and recommend the adoption of the following resolution:
