Reported fight in Bath county. --In the telegraphic column will be found interesting news from Bath county, Va. --In addition to this it was stated yesterday evening that our forces in Bath, under Gens. Imboden, Jones, and Jackson, had succeeded in surrounding the enemy and that in an engagement yesterday morning we took 500 prisoners and several pieces of artillery. From the fact that the Confederate troops were certainly closing in on the enemy on Wednesday we think the truth of the above report very probable. A force had been sent upon the enemy from a point the least expected by them, and by which they had intended making their retreat.
The Count Joannes in difficulty. --A dispatch from Boston says that the Grand Jury of Suffolk county, Mass., have indicted George, the Count Joannes, (George Jones, exactor) as a common "barrator," or, in the words of the indictment, as a "common nuisance" for stirring up unnecessary strites, suits, and controversies, among quiet and honest citizens of the Commonwealth. The defendant plead not guilty, and was held in $1,000 for trial.
