Steamer burned.
--Loss of Life.--The propeller Cataract, from Cleveland to Dunkirs owned by Frank Pereed, of Buffalo, loaded with flour tobacco alcohol, &., was burned off Erie on Saturday afternoon. The boat and cargo are a total loss.
Four persons are known to be drowned by the swamping of a small boat namely: John Horrigan, watch man; Hugh Kilpatrick.
