Letter from John Brooks to Dudley Hall. [Original in possession of Arthur T. Loomis.] Albany, June 15, 1811. my Dear Sir: We all arrived safely in this city at 8 o'clock last evening. Owing to very crowded stages the first day's journey was rather expeditious than agreeable. The second day we had an extra carriage, which rendered the latter part of the journey extremely pleasant. The ladies were less fatigued than might have been expected. Hepsey Hepsey Hall, sister of Dudley Hall. sustained her ride remarkably well. To-day we all seemed perfectly willing to rest. We are at Gregory's, who has contributed all in his power to refresh and recruit us. He gives us a profusion of strawberries. Hepsey has added them to her lacteal regime, to which she strictly adheres.
