Rust on cotton.
--A Preventive.--Sulphur, in the shape of sulphate of lime, or land plaster, is likely to prove a valuable remedy for rust on cotton.
It may not prevent the evil in all cases, but is certainly deserving of a fair trial.
Mr. T. P. Miller, of Mississippi, writes to the Cultivator that, last spring, he sowed about 200 pounds of plaster on an acre where the land was subject to rust cotton.
Some portions were left without plaster.
The part on which plaster was put had no rust, but on parts where no plaster was applied the cotton was rusted as usual.
It is proper to remark that the use of common salt has been followed by like results.
