Pork Packing. --A negro woman named Jane, slave of H. C. Neidt, was arrested on a charge of stealing a hog, worth $20, from some person unknown. The principal witness against her was a free negro, whose testimony, if emitted to credence, would tend to snow that Jane is carrying on an extensive pork-packing business; that, not content with "going the whole hog" in one instance, she has, at divers times, been the recipient of contraband swine, possibly with a view to monopolize the market. The woman made some statements highly derogatory to the moral character of her accuser, but failing to prove her innocence to the Recorder's satisfaction, she was yesterday remanded for punishment.
