Hutton, of the engineers, now in charge of the Washington water works; W. A. Farree, an enrolling officer; Robert Lamon, deputy Marshal; George T. James, police man, and William and Edward Wormly, well-known colored caterers; also, Ed. V. House, correspondent of the New York Times; Fielder R. Dorsey, of the Globe office, and Remus Riggs, brother of George W. Riggs, the banker. The name of George Washington, as well as Napoleon Bonaparte, was announced as in for it. At 3 o'clock the drawing for the second ward (or second sub-district) was commenced, the whole number of names put into the box being 2,480, and the quota to be drawn out 741, inclusive of the 50 per cent. for exempts, as in the former case.
