Are we not, in some degree, the spoiled children of that marvelous good fortune, which, by the gracious providence of God, has, for the most part, attended us since the commencement of this gigantic conflict? And have not our very successsional disaster can check the onward progress of a great cause, blessed with the approving smiles of Heaven, and sustained by stout hearts with unceasing vigilance and unfaltering faith.
