A bad place for Morals. --Hon. T. B. Sedgwick has written the appended reply to a note which he received from a clergyman, asking his influence to obtain a subordinate clerkship in the New York Custom-House for his son, a youth he "had never had occasion to punish, and never knew of his being guilty of a falsehood:" Syracuse, March, 1861. Rev. Mr. P.--My Dear Sir: --If you have a son who won't lie nor steal, don't, for God's sake, put him in the New York Custom-House; he woulv.
