By this means phosphate and fluate of lime, flint, compounds of barytes, silicates, and other very insoluble materials may be dissolved. The chemicals are usually grouped together before being placed in the water; thus each spring requires two, and sometimes more, separate solutions or mixtures. These concentrated solutions are largely made by Hanbury Smith and others, and are sold to druggists with directions for use. The price of these solutions to the retailers is $1 per quart, sufficient to make five gallons, or eighty glasses.
