er last. The trial is said to have excited great interest in the community, occupying the attention of the Court for six days. The day fixed for the execution of the unfortunate man has not transpired. A shocking tragedy occurred in Appomattox county, Va., on last Thursday, which resulted in the death of Crawford H. Jones, a lawyer in that county. The particulars of the sad event I have not been able to collect. The difficulty is reported to have originated in an attempt on the part of Mr. Jones to interfere in some of the domestic relations of Mr. Forbes, his overseer, who shot him with a double barrel shot gun, both leads entering his breast, and causing instant death. Mr. Jones at one time represented the county of Appomattox in the State Legislature. Of Mr. Forbes's antecedents I am not advised.
