Hung. --We noticed last week that a most brutal murder had been committed on the person of Mrs. Holand, an old lady 70 years of age, of Chattooga county. We have since learned that a negro woman belonging to Mrs. H. and who lived with her did the black deed with an axe. The negro made a full and voluntary confession, she said no one was concerned in it but herself; she did not know why she did it unless the devil was in her." On last Friday evening, after exhorting the negroes present to be obedient to their owners, she was hung by the citizens. We learn also that Mrs. H. was an exceedingly kind lady. She had given the woman no cause of offence except that she complained a very little that the chicken pie was not as good asit might have been.--Rome (Ga.,) Southerner, 18th.
