Thompson, Alfred Wordsworth 1840-1896
Artist; born in Baltimore, Md., May 26, 1840; studied art in Paris, France; settled in New York in 1863; became an associate of the National Academy of Design in 1873, and a member of the Society of American Artists in 1878.
His paintings include, Desolation; Annapolis in 1776; Review at Philadelphia, 1777; The advance of the enemy; The departure for the War, 1776, etc. He died in Summit, N. J., Aug. 28, 1896.
