A town-meeting was held on the 21st of July, at which the selectmen were authorized to pay a bounty of one hundred dollars to each volunteer who should enlist for three years in the military service, and be credited to the quota of the town; and the treasurer was directed to borrow money to pay the same. Another meeting was held on the 9th of August, at which Allen Mason, Seth Brown, Nathan M. Wood, and Parker H. Weaver were appointed a recruiting committee. On the 13th of August this committee reported that the quota of the town had been filled. Another meeting was held on the 16th, at which it was voted to recruit two more men; and the treasurer was authorized to borrow five thousand dollars for recruiting and bounty purposes.
