Interesting to Slave-owners.
--In the Circuit Court of Richmond, (Judge Meredith,) a suit brought against the city of Richmond, by C. L. Long's administrator, to recover damages for the loss of a slave, has been tried.
The facts alleged are that, in the year 1855, a negro named Ben, the property of the plaintiff, was received into the hospital of the city to be treated for small pox or varioloid, and that the defendant (the city) negligently and carelessly suffered him to escape, and he wandered off and died.
Damages to the amount of $2,500 were claimed in consequence.
The jury yesterday rendered a verdict assessing the plaintiff's damages at $516.50, subject to the opinion of the Court upon the demurrer to the evidence.
No further proceedings have transpired in the case.
