[by Telegraph.] Boston,April 6.--There is great activity manifested at the Charleston Navy-Yard — over 800 persons being employed. The brig Bainbridge is ready for sea, and waiting for her crew. The steam frigates Minnesota, Mississippi, and Colorado are also nearly ready. Com. Stringham is expected to arrive early next week.

Government. The City of Baltimore will take her place, and carry out her mails. The chartered steamer Atlantic is taking in troops at the Fort in the harbor. A., has resigned, and other resignations are talked of. A coolness between Seward and Lincoln is reported.
Murder case. Egg Harbor, N. J.April 6. --Mary Waldenberger, and Jno. Zeller, in prison at Mayslanding, have been identified by Christina Holz, as having lived in Philadelphia in December last, when the former confessed having caused the death of her infant, instigated by Zeller, her paramour. Mary's husband was convicted of the murder, but was subsequently reprieved by the Court of Pardons. A charge of murder will be brought against Mary and John Zeller on Monday next.
Municipal elections. Portsmouth, Va.,April 6. --John O'Lawrence, Union candidate, was elected Mayor to-day by 206 majority, over Mayer Grice, who had filled the office for twelve years. Louisville,Ky.,April 7.--Ex-Mayor Delph, the Workingmen's "Union" candidate for Mayor, was elected Saturday by 1,200 majority.
The United Kingdom at Portland, &c. Portland,April 6. --The steamer United Kingdom, from Glasgow on the 23d ult., arrived here yesterday afternoon. News anticipated. The steamer John Bell, having discharged her Canadian cargo, sailed at 6 o'clock this morning for New York.
Large Fire. Fall River,April 6. --The woolen mill and machinery of the Dunlap Manufacturing Company was destroyed by fire last night.--The stock of dry goods was mostly saved.--Insurance $31,000 in Providence and Hartford offices.
The War policy. Augusta, Ga.,April 6. --Little reliance is placed in the dispatches from the North respecting war preparations; but it is universally conceded that all prefer such a policy to suspense.
