The Alleged Confederate agent. --The following statement is made by the New York Journal of Commerce, of Thursday: On the list of the Arago's passengers is the name of "Dr. Gustavus Holland," bearer of dispatches to the Southern Confederacy.--Upon receiving intelligence of the arrival of such a messenger at this port, the Government immediately ordered his arrest. An inquiry into the facts of the case, by experienced detectives of this city, showed that no such man had come by the Arago, but that, in all probability, he had taken the Europe, and would, therefore, be due at Boston to-day, if he did not get off at Halifax, and attempt to make his way, incognita, through the free States to the South. Officers have been dispatched to Boston to take him if he lands there. Should be have left the vessel at Halifax, he will not find it easy to pass the police and military lines which intercept his path to the Southern border.
