The N. Y. Herald reproaches the men of Wall street, for their want of backbone:"
"The deleterious effect of mercantile pursuits on the spinal cartilage is well known; but we never saw it more at skingly illustrated then it has been in Wall street within a week.
For the past few days several leading bankers and moneyed men have been going about wringing their hands, and declaring that the affair at Bull Ran has ruined the country.
Our city first disaster seems to have knocked all the pluck out of these fellows, who are sniveling like whipped school-boys It is well for a country that Wall street has so directing our national affairs.
We end always supposed that "Wall street" furnished the power.
