been to make such acknowledgements by letters to the donors. I wish, also, to state that we have made a most satisfactory arrangement for the distribution of the supplies that come into our hands. Adjutant Henry Hoover has engaged to go out, without compensation, and at his own expense, and act as our distributing agent. He leaves to-day for Greenbrier river and Huntersville, with a load of boxes, in a wagon furnished by the Quartermaster at this place. He will remain in the mountains, passing from point to point, receiving the supplies shipped by us to him, and distributing them with his own hand, and to the most needy. Adjutant Hoover possesses the entire confidence of this and other communities in which he is known, and, being actuated by humane and Christian motives, will, we doubt not, be able to add much to the comfort of the sick in our mountain camps. Boxes, packages &c., may be addressed to Rev. Wm. E. Baker, Staunton, Va. Staunton, Va., Oct. 7th, 1861.
