Green, Ky., who furnished him with the following interesting items of news: Gen. Johnston left Bowling Green with his whole command, consisting of forty thousand troops, on last Thursday morning. Gen. Johnston's army is represented as the most magnificent body of men ever assembled in any country — splendidly armed and equipped, and eager for the great contest which must take place in Kentucky ere long. He has from seven to eight thousand cavalry, finely equipped, more than twelve hundred of which are the terrible and skillful Texan Rangers. Gen. Breckinridge has returned from Richmond, and commands a brigade in Gen. Johnston's army. There can be no doubt that Johnston's destination is Louisville, and there can be still less doubt that it will soon fall into our hands. Everything is now prepared in Kentucky--the people eager for the contest, and we may look for stirring times from that quarter. Pillow's late victory is only a foretaste of what we may expect hereafter.
