Mr. Lynch presented the petition of Barney McKenney and James Casey, asking that certain taxes paid by them may be refunded, and that certain property belonging to them may be reassessed, which was referred to the Committee on Finance and Claims. The Senate then took up the unfinished business of yesterday, which was the bill entitled an act to anthorize a connection between the Richmond and Petersburg railroad and the Petersburg railroad and the Petersburg railroad in Petersburg. The question being upon the motion of Mr. Collier, to restrict the proposed connection to the period of the duration of the war, a discussion ensued, in which Messrs. Collier, Robertson, Christian of Augusta, Branson, Ahomas of Fairfax, Whittle, and others participated. Before any action was taken upon the said bill, the Senate adjourned.
