ackson county, about twenty miles southwest of Lexington, between parts of Colonels Phillips's and Crittenden's regiments of State troops, 850 strong, and about 3,000 rebels under Quantrel and other guerrilla chiefs, resulting in the defeat of the State forces, with a loss of 200 killed and wounded and two pieces of artillery.
