Pardons. --Governor Letcher on Monday pardoned and released from the penitentiary four men, viz: Albert Mason, sent from this city by the Hustings Court for obtaining money under false pretences; John Turner, sent by the Circuit Court of Pulaski county for larceny; Charles E. Allison, sent from Buckingham county for horse stealing; and Charles Walker, alias A. J. Hill, sent from Appomattox county for grand larceny. These pardons were granted because the prisoners named had given information of a most extensive projected emeute amongst their fellow convicts, embracing in its ramifications the murder of the superintendent, guard, and all others who might seek to debar their access to the outer world. Information afterwards obtained verified the perfect accuracy of the information communicated by those pardoned, and justified their release from confinement.
