Atlanta (Georgia, United States) (search for this): article 6
Dodging the Conscripts.
--The Atlanta Confederacy has the following:
A member of the 5th Georgia regiment, who was absent without leave for the third time, and who had been sought frequently if not oftener, was found on yesterday in an excavation beneath the floor of his house.
His place of concealment was exposed by the casual remark of a female in the house which was overheard by the officer in search, and induced him to tear up a plank of the floor, and behold there was the fellow reclining in all the bliss of fancied security.
His dreams were sadly disturbed by the intruding officer, and the dreamer was urged off to a place of greater security, there to await further orders.
